Peggy Lien

Peggy Lien, Parish Nurse:  I was born west of Dalton on a farm near Rose Lake.  As a child I attended Sarpsborg Lutheran Church going to Sunday School, was confirmed there and was married.  After my marriage I lived in several states: Illinois, North Dakota and Iowa before returning to Minnesota. I had two sons, John and Scott.  We joined Our Savior's in 1979 and in 1981 Sylvan and I were married at Our Savior's. I am now a widow as Sylvan died in March of 2013.  Sylvan had 3 children, Jeff, Nancy and Becky and to our combined family have added 11 grandchildren.  With the grandchildren getting married and adding great-grandchildren, the family continues to expand. Life is busy and good.

While in Iowa I attended Drake University and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing obtaining my RN in 1977.  My nursing career included working in ICU units for two hospitals, in a nursing home, and the last 24 years working for the Department of Health, State of Minnesota (MDH) inspecting health care facilities. In 2010 I retired from MDH. Around November of 2013 I decided that it was the time to attend the Parish Nursing Ministry Program, Concordia College held at Luther Seminary, St. Paul and completed that program on March 28, 2014.  It was a transforming experience and another step in God's plan.
